MasterSap is a structural analysis program addressed to Civil Engineering applications. For seismic activity areas analysis is particularly simple and immediate.
Following the structural analysis, MasterSap designs and verifies concrete, steel, timber and masonry elements; MasterSap verifies steel joints as well. At the moment code analyses are available for Eurocodes EC2, EC3, EC5, EC6, and EC8.

MasterSap is a program conceived for the analysis, design and drawing generation of Civil Engineering applications. MasterSap allows the user to analyse generically modelled structures through typical framed elements, plates and shells. The analysis can be static or dynamic and it determines the deformations or stress stage in the structure as well as the ground reactions. The results are processed to design and verify concrete, steel, timber and masonry elements. For steel applications MasterSap verifies steel joints as well. Procedures for automated, personalized drawings of concrete are also provided. The user operates in a 3D environment through a Windows type interface. It is possible to start the model through traditional commands, even though using a 3D or 2D drawing will turn out to be more efficient: in fact the structural geometry will automatically be recognized.
In the case of buildings it is normal to acquire a plan that allows the user to recognize and extrude the vertical elements (columns and beams). For more articulated structures, such as lattice works, it is more common to start from the whole 3D format.
Advanced and competitive meshing functions for surface elements are available.

The MasterSap elements boast several properties that allow the user to model the specificity of the structural behaviour, such as connections and constructive eccentricity.
The load management is very flexible and efficient and it allows the user to determine the load state of the whole structure very quickly.
AMV provides and organizes proper data base that includes profiles, materials, load configurations or load combinations and seismic spectrums. The user will be able to expand these files.
The graphic interface allows the user to easily operate on the model and every recognisable flaw will be filtered during the input phase or will be recognized by the diagnostic analyser launched before the structural analysis.
The checking functions are very sophisticated and along with the research functions, they allow the user to obtain the maximum control over the structural model.
Whenever the necessity occurs, the structural analysis will be performed, including second order effects. The user can operate on the model with extreme freedom; he can create generic views and sections, as well as memorise substructures of specific interest.

All the properties of the model, as well as the results, will be represented graphically and they’ll include deformations, stress, internal tension, boundary reactions, dynamic vibrations and pressure on foundations etc.
The good results of the analysis are checked by coloured maps and the values of the scale can be set up by the user. The results can be managed from the print-outs as well and a special procedure pre-sets the relation (pre-defined by the user in a data base) that will be completed and adapted to the specific project. The results of the structural calculations are processed to get the final design. The MasterSap configuration is modular and the user can configure the modules according to his current needs. In case of a mixed-typed structure the elements of different materials will be subjected to a competent verification.
For concrete elements the design follows Eurocode 2, for steel Eurocode 3, for timber Eurocode 5 and for masonry Eurocode 6.
It is also possible to design single elements in the structure; if the user changes the properties he will immediately get the new verification through coloured maps.
Another option is to get the same results on the print-outs.

The drawings of the concrete element works can be automatically obtained by processing the numerical results and by arranging steel bars based on the user’s criteria; these criteria are codified in appropriate tables. The technician may operate on the final drawing, making all the necessary improvements: the changes should still be conformed to the structural results. When using steel applications, the design of joints is provided as well. In this case it is beneficial to refer to the joints data base, provided by AMV and extendable by the user. When the user selects the elements on the model that need to be linked and chooses the type of compatible connection, MasterSap drags the compatible link from the file and accomplishes the design of all the components. MasterSap also performs the checking of the weldments. The user may even perform the design independently from the model by inserting all the necessary data. In this case the data won’t be directly acquired from the model.
